Amsterdam, just like Lisbon, has great architecture. A lot of city center canal houses dates back to 17th century. The tall, slim and crooked buildings along with the canals are what characterises Amsterdam.
Because of the danger of flooding the front door is sometimes higher up and only reachable via stairs. To hoist up valuable goods, pulleys were installed in the attic and they are still used for moving furniture.
I’ve tried to photograph the buildings with my phone but it’s hard to know what’s naturally crooked and what’s my phone’s fault.
