In April I visited New York for the first time, Aron who was with me had been there when he was a teenager. I’ve always been semi-scared of flying which is why I’ve been hesitant to go overseas before, but it was 100 % worth it. We decided to stay for 7 nights so we could experience as much as possible.
We stayed in a part of Brooklyn called Bedford-Stuyvesant (very close to where Biggie Smalls grew up). It’s a diverse neighbourhood with historic brownstones, and although we didn’t spend much time there we were very happy with the location, fairly close to both Manhattan and the more popular parts of Brooklyn.
I asked some people for tips so before we set off, I had filled my Google Maps with restaurants, shops, bars and places to visit. Much of the trip’s success is all thanks to my wonderful friends!
We spent the first day, which was my 29th birthday (yay!) walking around Williamsburg, having brunch and roaming the second hand stores. The next few days we shifted between Brooklyn and Manhattan and spent most of our time eating the best food and walking until our feet were exhausted.
If you want to know more about the specific places we visited, I’ll make a NYC City Guide soon.
